Power of the Mind

PAGE IN PROGRESS
What you see here is a page of my hypertext book POWER of meanings // MEANINGS of power. Initially empty, this page will slowly be filled with thoughts, notes, and quotes. One day, I will use them to write a coherent entry, similar to these completed pages. See this post to better understand my creative process. Thank you for your interest and patience! :)
When we think about mind power, we imaging superheroes moving objects with the power of their thought.

Mind power is something that all of us have and use all the time. We can also call it mental abilities.

mental abilities are invisible same as mental illness is invisible (but not its outcomes)

Mental powers are still misunderstood, taken with suspicion- social emotional skills

If I know how to deal with anxiety by noticing things around me (see, hear, touch) - it is a form of power.

If I can be aware when I am sad that this is a passing state (and not that something is wrong) it is a form of power.

if I can notice that meanings of objects around me are not absolute and unchanging - it is a for of power.

mindfulness

any mental ability used with self-arateness or as part of self-awareness is a form of power

working a project slowly, valuing the progress even if it’s slow (delayed gratification) - like I am working on my hypertext projects

saying no to urges that might satisfy you right now but hurt in the long term

maybe there are words for some of these forms of mental power but most dong have concise names, which suggests that they are undervalued and/or misunderstood

questioning social order (Sapiens, chapter 7), what “just is what it is”
