My guiding vision is to help people combine awareness of social problems
with collaboration across divides, through empathy and compassion.

​​I am an independent interdisciplinary scholar. My work explores questions of conflict, polarization, empathy, compassion, collaboration, and human meaning-making. I am especially interested in how people come to understand themselves, one another, and the world—and how these understandings shape the ways we relate, disagree, and coexist.

I am a nonfiction writer. Having authored a number of academic articles, I published a book about media in 2021. My current focus is on developing ideas through hypertexts (see also my essays). For the latest updates on my writing projects, visit my blog.

I am an editor. I work with individual clients and publishing companies (McGraw Hill, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press) to improve trade and academic manuscripts in social/behavioral sciences and the humanities.

I am in-between. As an immigrant with an interdisciplinary background and a passion for empathy, my strength is an ability to draw from different fields and communities, switch my perspective, and find solutions that combine contradictory truths.

I create. My creative outlets include hypertext writing, poetry, photography, and epoxy resin art.
