Binaries
PAGE IN PROGRESS
What you see here is a page of my hypertext book Me, Looking for Meaning. Initially empty, it will slowly be filled with thoughts, notes, and quotes. One day, I will use them to write a coherent entry, similar to these completed pages. See this post to better understand my creative process. Thank you for your interest and patience!

I must confess: I love binaries. I criticize them, but I rely on them all the time.

“The memeification of Johnny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard continues on TikTok, as hordes of enthusiastic fans attempt to flatten an ugly, complicated situation into a binary narrative of unhinged aggressor versus saintly victim.”-amber
It’s important to keep challenging ourselves to see people beyond binaries: bad/good, smart/stupid, kind/mean. A person whose actions we were sad about can still help. A person whose ideas we criticized can give us an idea that will be important and helpful. Acknowledging this is not easy. I know it and I am still fighting with myself all the time not to fall into the comfort of binary thinking.
the fairy take about fisherman’s daughter and the king (with and without present, on horse and on feet, etc.)
modern medicine vs traditional one (herbs)? both are important and can be combined wisely (in Chile, in some hospitals people can get modern treatments AND consultations with Mapuche shaman
Also consider: acupuncture
The binary thinking led to misunderstanding/losing the important knowledge of the traditional medicine (logically, you cannot cure some diseases with herbs; this does not mean that herbs cannot be more powerful/safe than some modern medicines)
paraguay: Poha Nemura application for smartphones that has information about using medicinal plants
