What Will This Project Become?
1) A self-sufficient hypertext consisting of multiple interconnected pages. "Self-sufficient" means that links on its pages will mostly lead to other pages on this site, rather than to sources outside of it. This is an experimental project, as hypertext books of this kind are uncommon.
2) A nonlinear online book with (potentially) hundreds of short pages/entries. Considering that this is my side project, it will keep growing steadily but slowly. Each page will be short because I want to parse my thinking into multiple ideas and trace connections between them. This book is not an encyclopedia, so entries may overlap in various ways. They are also likely to differ in tone and style.
3) An open-ended exploration and a testing ground for my ideas. If this project goes as planned, I will keep working on it for a long time. Completed entries will contain links to other completed entries, but also to pages filled with notes. This way, the project will help me organize my ideas and trace connections between them.
4) A constantly changing text. I will try to avoid rewriting any pages dramatically. However, even completed ones may be edited over time. If you want to cite any page of this online book, please inform me about this, and I will stop rewriting it. You can read more about the citation process and suggested citation format here.
5) A foundation and inspiration for future “traditional” books. This hypertext project may always stay in the background of my scholarship. I will use it to take notes and develop ideas that will later be used in print books.
6) A source for blog posts. As as nice addition, this online book will allow me to keep my blog alive by encouraging me to create posts in a more systematic way.
7) A creative outlet and an opportunity to challenge my perfectionism.
