WORKSHOP: Surviving the Polar[ization] Vortex: Solutions for Everyday Life
We can probably all agree that polarization is a problem. It's a whirlpool that sucks us in and spits us out, leaving us shivering, angry, suspicious, and defensive. But what is the source of these (potentially explosive) reactions? And, most importantly, what can we do about them?
If you want to find out, book this interactive workshop!
The workshop usually consists of two sessions (although it's possible to arrange a different format). During the first meeting, participants discuss how they experience polarization and understand its causes. After the discussion, I introduce resources and strategies that are meant to help participants better understand and deal with this crisis. The strategies are based on such practices as media literacy education, mindfulness meditation, and Nonviolent Communication.
Participants will be able to choose appropriate materials based on their opinions and attitudes towards polarization. The materials are organized into the following groups:
If two sessions are scheduled, participants will have time for "homework": exploring the materials and putting some ideas into practice. During the second session, I help participants to share their experiences and adjust them to their individual needs. Additional materials may be supplied after the second session, if necessary.

- For those who have no hope that people on the “other side” can be reasoned with;
- For those who have some hope, but are not sure how to deal with negative emotions;
- For those who have hope and curiosity about the other side;
- For those who recognize the role of technology and want to use it more mindfully;
- For those who want to attempt a dialogue;
- For those who want to attempt collaboration.
